FAQs
What age groups are the workshops for?
Our workshops are designed for kids and teens from Kindy - Year 12. We group participants by age to make sure everyone feels comfortable, supported, and challenged at the right level.
Do my kids need prior experience in acting, singing, or dancing?
Not at all! Our workshops welcome both beginners and experienced young performers. We create a safe, playful environment where kids can learn new skills, try things out, and build confidence.
What should my child bring on the day?
A water bottle, lunch and snacks (nut-free), and comfortable clothes they can move in. If your child is attending a full day workshop, we’ll break for morning tea, lunch, and an afternoon snack.
What time do the workshops run?
Full day workshops run from 9:30am – 3:00pm. Half day sessions are either morning (9:30am – 12:00pm) or afternoon (12:30pm – 3:00pm).
Where are the workshops held?
Our workshops currently run in the Earlwood/Marrickville area of Sydney. Venue details will be confirmed in your booking email.
Who runs the workshops?
The Pretend People is founded and facilitated by Veronica Clavijo, an actor, writer, and storyteller with over 15 years of professional experience in the performing arts. She’s supported by experienced creatives who bring their own magic to each workshop.
What if my child can’t attend after booking?
We understand plans change! If you cancel more than 7 days before the workshop, we’ll provide a full refund. Cancellations made within 7 days can be credited towards a future workshop.
How many children are in each workshop?
We keep group sizes small to medium to make sure every child gets plenty of individual attention and feels included.
Can I stay and watch the workshop?
We do have an open-door policy in that you can pop in and check on your child as necessary. We encourage you to come during lunch or breaks to minimise disruptions and distractions to the other children.
Ultimately, parents and carers are to drop off and pick up at the set times so the kids can fully immerse themselves in the activities. Don’t worry, you’ll get to see what they’ve been working on during our end-of-day sharing.
How do I book?
You can book directly via our website or get in touch with us. Choose your workshop, complete the registration form, and secure your spot with payment. Easy!
